Raindrops
01:40
|

Oh there’s raindrops falling on my head
And June is cool again
All the tiny little plants taking tiny little drinks
From their tiny flowerbeds
Oh there’s raindrops falling on my head
And there’s raindrops falling on the street
Turning sidewalks into streams
Baby girls and baby boys all splashing with joy
They don’t care about soggy feet
Oh there’s raindrops falling on the street
There’s raindrops falling on the earth
Makin' mud from dirt
But it’ll all melt away by the end of the day
And the stains will wash out of your shirt
Oh there’s raindrops falling on the earth

Splinter

How are you? Who are you?
The zipper 'round your head is broken
I'm afraid for the first time
To tear somebody open
Cuz you taste like winter, gentle and deep,
Like somewhere I'd go to chase a dream
And though I'm just a splinter if life's a tree
I hope I get stuck in your feet
If I spoke in anything but poetry
Would I bore you to death?
I wanna fill you up with
All the happiness I have left
Cuz you taste like winter, gentle and deep,
Like somewhere I'd go to chase a dream
And though I'm just a splinter if life's a tree
I hope I get stuck in your feet
If you turn into a ghost
If you paint yourself blue
If you only sing sour notes
I'd still like you
Cuz you taste like winter, gentle and deep,
Like somewhere I'd go to chase a dream
And though I'm just a splinter if life's a tree
I hope I get stuck in your feet

Summer Street

Walking down summer street covered in snow
My dreams are all stuck in the back of my throat
City lips filling the sky up with smoke again
Walking down winter street, isn’t it grand,
We’ve gotten this far without some kind of plan?
Skyscrapers kissing the top of her head and they see...
Silver lights in her eyes, all these
Silver lights in her eyes, oh she
Reeled in the stars with a fishing rod
And froze them in seafoam ice
All these silver lights in her eyes
Walking down summer street covered in sun
Sleepy trees opening their little buds
Convinced that the heavens turned blue just for us again
And I’m sitting on winter street wondering how
To find the moon without somebody moving the clouds
And if I should just let her figure it out, cause I see...
Silver lights in her eyes, all these
Silver lights in her eyes, oh she
Reeled in the stars with a fishing rod
And froze them in seafoam ice
All these silver lights in her eyes
All these silver lights in her eyes

Sea and Sand
01:43
|
|||
I was deep in the flood when I fell asleep
When into my dreams the water did creep
So I had to wake up, get to my feet
And start kicking outta here
And so my feet I tried to find
But I must have left them both behind
I found a fishy tail and it fit just fine
Said "I gotta swim outta here"
But not to you my dear
Life doesn't always go how we planned
Yesterday you're in the sea and tomorrow in the sand
Life doesn't always go how we want it to
Today you're in the gutter but tomorrow in Kalamazoo
Well I swam all day till the moon-rise came
When I stumbled upon a mountain range
Saying this is the place that I will stay
And call my home sweet home
Then I came upon a mountain goat
Said there's no place here for fish to float
I traded my fins for a pair of hooves
Now I live on the top of the world
Far from my sweet girl
Life doesn't always go how we planned
Yesterday you're in the sea and tomorrow in the sand
Life doesn't always go how we want it to
Today you're in the gutter but tomorrow in Kalamazoo

Fade
04:04
|
|||
Like a scar you will fade over time
Along with the ones you gave me
Your face will be as faint as an echo
Your voice carried off by the breeze
They've started tearing up the sidewalk
On the streets where we traveled hand in hand
But what's a sidewalk without your tapping feet?
Oh what did I, oh what did I expect?
Like a memory you'll fade over time
Along with the ones you gave me
Your smile will be as faint as an echo
Your laugh carried off by the breeze
And they will pull you from my memory
Pluck you from each one until you're gone
Though I'll chase you all throughout my mind
You let me go without a second thought
I know scars never really go away
I'm scared you'll always live in my skin
But here's to hoping you disappear
To the back of my mind
And I can forget, but at least
Like a scar you will fade over time
Along with the ones you gave me
Your face will be as faint as an echo
Your voice carried off by the breeze
Your voice carried off by the breeze
